RS.SurfMeter
Version history
1.2.48–1.2.51 | 12–16.10.2026
- Revit view-tab coloring is now available in this plugin, as in all plugins in the product line: enable it, choose “Fill” or “Stripe”, and set color by project or file in the “Revit Tabs” section of “Settings”. By default, the entire tab is filled with the color (the stripe can be selected again); the active tab is no brighter than the others—it is marked by a colored stripe at the top.
- The plugin window can be opened using a command in the RS.BIMManager application, with the same license check as the ribbon button.
- Consistent naming: the solution is called rs.Surfmeter in windows and messages, and RS.RVT.Surfmeter in “Add or Remove Programs” and in the installer name. The new installer updates the installed version in place: licenses and the trial period are retained.
- Licensing and updates (shared across the RS-Systems product line): the trial period can be extended with a code, a license issued for your PC activates without an internet connection, short website codes in the form RS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX are accepted, the Suite license has been fixed, and license protection has been strengthened. Updates for all installed RS-Systems solutions appear in one window and are installed as a single batch after exiting Revit; to open it manually, use “Settings” → “Updates for All RS-Systems Solutions…”.
- Usage data: in addition to accumulated working minutes, only an indication that the plugin has been launched is transmitted; computer, user, and file identifiers are still not transmitted.
1.2.37–1.2.43 | 05–09.10.2026
- New access mode, “Pay by time”: instead of licensing each plugin, you can top up your website account balance and use any plugin in the range for 1 cent per minute of actual work. A minute is billable when you enter data, launch a command or processing is underway. An open but idle window is not charged, and using several plugins simultaneously still costs 1 cent per minute. The account is connected using a code on a website page; the plugin does not receive your password. Connecting through one plugin connects all of them.
- Access priority: plugin license → regional promotion → trial period → pay by time. A new plugin first runs free for 90 days, and charging starts only afterward. Your balance is not used while a license or trial is active. The remaining balance and a “Top up” button, when less than an hour remains, are shown in the status bar. There are no balance pop-ups.
- Pay-per-use works online only: without a connection or with a zero balance, new commands and the panel do not start, while already open windows and processing already underway are not interrupted. Offline, the plugin works only during a trial period or under a license.
- License protection has been strengthened: setting the computer clock back no longer extends the trial or license. The plugin reports: “The computer clock has been set back. Set the correct date and time.” Existing trials are not reset. A purchased license activates automatically in the background after reinstalling Windows or Revit, or after purchasing it on another device.
- Usage data: only an indication that the plugin is being used and accumulated working minutes are transmitted. The installation ID, versions, license status, and details of your actions in the model are not transmitted.
- Shared RS-Systems ribbon: the Export button (RS.Exporter) replaces the RS.DxfExport button; there is no longer a separate Descriptor button.
1.2.30–1.2.35 | 30.09–01.10.2026
- The RS-Systems theme now matches the rs-systems.org website palette: buttons like those on the website, amber section labels, and teal accents only on thin elements (focus indicators, checkboxes, links); no background is darker than the list background. The Light and Dark themes are unchanged.
- Fixed: small plugin windows no longer stretch across the full screen width and are sized to their contents.
1.2.25–1.2.28 | 28–29.09.2026
- Website updates have been reworked. Checks now distinguish between an up-to-date version, an available update, an unpublished installer and an unavailable website. Downloads run in the background with progress and cancellation. The installer is verified using SHA-256 and starts after Revit closes. “Settings” brings together theme, licensing, updates and build information. Ribbon button placement has been standardized: Params in Manage, Browser in Tools, and MCP in AI.
1.2.14–1.2.22 | 21–26.09.2026
- Updated RS-Systems interface: Manage / Tools / Models / AI panels, compact uniform buttons with short English labels, Revit-style icons for light and dark themes, automatic window placement within the monitor's work area with DPI awareness, and optional Revit view tab coloring by project or file.
- Editing commands no longer appear on Revit’s green contextual ribbon. Face and edge editing is performed entirely from the plugin panel, so unnecessary buttons are not shown outside editing mode.
1.2.13 | 10.09.2026
- The windows use their own icon. F1 help and interface localization have not yet been implemented. Version number 1.2.13 in the changelog is provisional: the installer version file was empty.
1.2.12
- Faces behind intersecting or obstructing elements can be selected directly or using TAB. “Subtract”, “Count in Full”, and “Front Only” modes have been added; subtraction remains the default. For joined geometry, selection may still be unavailable if the face belongs to an excluded category.
1.2.0–1.2.10
- Editing measurement objects has moved to Revit’s contextual ribbon, with backup buttons in the panel. Included faces are highlighted; measurement objects can be renamed, and the schedule groups them by name.
