Version history

1.0.17–1.0.20 | 12–16.10.2026

  • The AI agent’s connection channel to Revit is available only to the current Windows user on this computer; network connections are prohibited.
  • Added Revit view tab coloring, as in all plugins in the range: enable/disable, “Fill” or “Strip” style, and color by project or file. By default, the entire tab is filled, and the active tab is no brighter than the others; it is marked by a strip in the project color at the top. Configure this in the “Revit Tabs” section of the “⚙ Settings” window.
  • An RS.BIMManager application can invoke the RS.MCP ribbon button. The window opens just as it does when clicked, including the license check.
  • The product is now named rs.MCP in its windows.
  • Licensing and updates (shared across the range): trial extension by code; activation using an RS-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX code from the website, a Suite license, or an offline license for this computer; a more convenient activation window; a single “RS-Systems Updates” window for all installed solutions and an “Updates for all RS-Systems solutions…” button in “Settings”; stronger license and update protection.

1.0.11–1.0.16 | 05–09.10.2026

  • New access mode, “Pay by time”: instead of licensing each plugin, you can top up your website account balance and use any plugin in the range for 1 cent per minute of actual work. A minute is billable when you enter data, launch a command or processing is underway. An open but idle window is not charged, and using several plugins simultaneously still costs 1 cent per minute. The account is connected using a code on a website page; the plugin does not receive your password. Connecting through one plugin connects all of them.
  • Access priority: plugin license → regional promotion → trial period → pay by time. A new plugin first runs free for 90 days, and charging starts only afterward. Your balance is not used while a license or trial is active. The remaining balance and a “Top up” button, when less than an hour remains, are shown in the status bar. There are no balance pop-ups.
  • Pay by time works online only. Without a connection or with a zero balance, new commands and panels cannot be launched, but open windows and processing already underway are not interrupted. Offline use is available only during a trial or with a license.
  • AI agent calls to Revit also check access: if the trial has expired or the balance is empty, the agent receives a clear refusal.
  • License protection has been strengthened: setting the computer clock back no longer extends the trial or license. The plugin reports: “The computer clock has been set back. Set the correct date and time.” Existing trials are not reset. A purchased license activates automatically in the background after reinstalling Windows or Revit, or after purchasing it on another device.
  • Usage data has been reduced to a minimum: only a “plugin in use” flag and accumulated working minutes are sent. The installation identifier, versions, license status and details of your actions in the model are not sent.

1.0.5 | 29.09.2026

  • Website updates have been reworked. Checks now distinguish between an up-to-date version, an available update, an unpublished installer and an unavailable website. Downloads run in the background with progress and cancellation. The installer is verified using SHA-256 and starts after Revit closes. “Settings” brings together theme, licensing, updates and build information. Ribbon button placement has been standardized: Params in Manage, Browser in Tools, and MCP in AI.

25–26.09.2026

  • Updated RS-Systems interface: Manage / Tools / Models / AI panels, compact uniform buttons with short English labels, Revit-style icons for light and dark themes, automatic window placement within the monitor's work area with DPI awareness, and optional Revit view tab coloring by project or file.

1.0.0 | 21.09.2026

  • First release of the MCP connection to Revit: discovery of running instances, reading model and document information, paginated element queries, and reading instance and type parameters. Compatible RS-Systems products can provide additional tools. The connection is disabled by default; modifying the model is prohibited in this version.
  • Improved handling of concurrent requests, timeouts, and errors. Fixed JSON array serialization and error messages from operation providers.
DESCRIPTION

RS.MCP

Overview

A bridge between Autodesk Revit and an external AI agent through the MCP protocol. Gives the agent controlled access to model operations within a running Revit session.

Key features

Connection

The MCP client and server interface exchange requests and results between the agent and Revit.

Control

Built-in connection settings and an MCP on/off switch on the RS-Systems ribbon.

Access

Agent calls are checked by the access system in the same way as user commands; the available actions depend on the current Revit context.

The connection channel to Revit is available only to the current Windows user on this computer; network connections are prohibited.

Revit view tabs

View tab coloring is shared by all plugins in the range: tabs use a project or file color, either as a full-tab fill, which is the default, or as a strip along the top. Configure it in the Revit Tabs section of the ⚙ Settings window.

Usage

The solution is designed to work inside Autodesk Revit. The available commands depend on the Revit version, the open document, and the solution settings.
